Busy, Busy, Busy!
I apologize for never finishing my blog posts about the last day in Costa Rica and my return home. Life has become very busy for me. I am almost 2 months into my senior year of high school and with that have taken on many other responsibilities. I am taking 11 college credits this semester, along with soccer, working weekends, and all the responsibilities that come with growing up. I turned 18 twelve days ago and feel as though I truly have dived into adulthood. Fun stuff. As you can see, lots of new and exciting things have begun in my life. For the past few years, I seemed to have been set on staying at Luzerne County Community College and receive my Registered Nursing degree. However, recently I have been thinking a lot more about that, wondering if it's the correct choice or not. Even though it would be much more inexpensive and quick to stay at LCCC, I wonder if it is where God wants me. You see, I do not want to waste my life. I want to look back on my college years and say, "wow, I was right where I needed to be and did those things I know needed to be done." I want to live to the full extent of what God has for me. I want to serve Him in all of the ways that I can and be involved with others who have that same desire. Not that I could not do those things at a community college, but a Christian college is where I desire to be. The biggest question, however, was if I am to go to a Christian college, how in the world am I going to pay for it? My parents and I decided that if that is where God wants me to be, He will provide the means to go. So I began to look at Christian colleges and make a list of my "favorites" or the ones that appeared to be a right fit for me. I came up with five; Cedarville University, Liberty University, Baptist Bible College, Eastern University, and Waynesburg University.
This past week I visited Waynesburg University in Waynesburg, PA. It's about 4 1/2 hours away from my home (a little further than the ideal). My mom and I made this 2 day trip together. We arrived on Monday night and boy was it an interesting first impression. The town that the university is placed in is a very old, small, almost "run down" town. My mom and I looked at each other and thought "oh dear." She tells me that I watch too much T.V but I am telling you, it looked like the kind of town that has some big secret. Thankfully, the next morning, the town looked much less creepy and more just old. The campus of Waynesburg is much different, however. It is a beautiful, small campus and I loved it! We were taken on a tour, met with admissions and the basketball coach, ate lunch in the dining hall, and attended chapel. I came away loving every part of the university and my mom and I both agreed that it was a great fit for me. I am going to apply there, and if it is where God wants me then I will hopefully be attending there next fall!
I am actually sitting at LCCC, waiting until my next class, which is in a few minutes. So as you can see, busy, busy, busy! But I have a soccer game scheduled for later and it's raining! So that part is wonderful. Cannot wait to dig up some mud! I will try and post about my last day in Costa Rica and my return either today or tomorrow.
