333 Stone Steps
7-21-13
I didn't find the time to write last night, so I'll try to recap yesterday as much as possible. The whole team stayed at Hogar De Vida yesterday because the team that went to the church on Friday had finished their project of tearing down in a day. We spent the morning painting some of the sidewalks throughout the property. This helps it from being slippery and from fungus growing on it. After we finished, coated with paint(well mainly just me), we enjoyed a wonderful rice and chicken dish and fresh fruit for lunch. After lunch, we hiked to a gorgeous waterfall just a short walk down the road. We climbed down 333 stone steps surrounded by beautiful jungle. There aren't words to describe the beauty of God's creation. It's so amazing to see creation in another country. Although it is different, the beauty in God's creation is universal(well, beyond universal..), unfathomable really. We climbed behind the waterfall and swam beneath it. Such an amazing experience. When we returned, we went to the local grocery store, that was unique and interesting. While very much of it was similar, some things were different. Such as the "tag" you must stop and take before parking and then hand it back on your way out. Then they take yours and hand it right out the other side of the toll-like booth to another car. The purpose of it? I'm still not entirely sure. The inside of the grocery store was pretty much like normal, American grocery stores, except for one thing that I noticed. They sell giant bags of rice! And I mean giant. They come in sacks, resembling large feed bags for animals. Although, I love rice so I could probably handle shopping in that grocery store. We drove back to Hogar De Vida and rested for the afternoon, before dinner we helped a Tia hang some of the baby clothes on her clothesline. Being a baby lover, of course I loved it! Breakfast is now ready, so I'll continue writing later. I can't wait for church this morning. It will be so unique to worship in another language, especially one I do not know.
"As long as you are alive, He hasn't given up on you."~Steve Lucas (Shared during breakfast before church)
Here are some pictures from the waterfall....enjoy the beauty of God's creation!
On a side note: Sorry I didn't post yesterday! Busy day....my sister-in-law, Schuyler and nephew, Charlie have come to visit for the week! :)
