Missin' Those Kiddos...
7-24-13
I can't really express all of the emotions of this week. It's a beautiful, early morning as I sit in my favorite rocking chair. Today is our last "official" day at Hogar De Vida, as tomorrow is our excursion day. I'm trying not to think about it because honestly, I don't want to leave. There's such a beautiful peace about this country. I don't miss Facebook, my phone, or any of the busy "luxuries" of life. I do miss my dog though. There are so many stray dogs here. Seriously, everywhere. So of course I miss my fluff. And I miss my family. No matter where I go, I'll always miss my family. I wish my mom could have come. I know it would have been a wonderful experience together. But I guess we can save that for Uganda next year! (Lord willing!) I will miss so many things about this place. I'll miss the friendships I have made. I really cannot explain the easy, deep bonds created from day one. It's crazy really. I'll miss the solitude. I'll miss each and every child that doesn't have a biological family. I know they are all in the hands of our almighty creator and therefore I can be at peace. They are surrounded by such love in this place. That's another thing I will miss: pure, selfless love. I'll miss every part of this place. From the fresh mangos to the beauty of the mountains. I know God has used this trip to mold me and draw me closer to Him. Just as the pastor preached on Sunday. "...Look, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand.." (Jeremiah 18:6) I am ready for today and what ever God has in store for me.
Highlights of the day: Playing with Kendall, Rosa actually being nice to me, Roy's smiles, swimming with Tatiana and Axel.
Swimming!
On a side note: Sorry I haven't posted in a little while! It's been busy! Really missing those kiddos though. This day was one of my favorites...having some one-on-one time with Tati and Axel was so much fun! Wish I could just walk on over and take a swim with them. Too bad it's not that easy :(
